New to designing spacecraft...

Hi all! I'm pretty new to KSP - but I am totally loving it!

Is there a source to get .obj or similar files for the basic game models so i can play around with them and take a stab at creating some custom versions?

Any help would be welcome!

i think you should ask in the "Add-on Requests and Support" section

I think you should be able to load a stock craft, alter it and save it under a different name. Go to the top of the screen, click in the name panel and change it. Then save. I have done this in the past and I call it 'reverse engineering' or 'cheating'.

oh ok i understand it completly wrong, sorry.

the "tutorial" crafts are in C:\programs\Kerbal Space Program\Ships

SPH for the spaceplans and VAB for the rockets

You can also download a .craft file from somewhere, save the file into the appropriate ships folder of your saves (VAB or SPH), then open it and edit it however you like. You don't even have to edit it, if you like it as downloaded. Some people consider this cheating, but let's be honest, everyone takes inspiration from other people's ships at least a little bit.
