Fuel Flow Problem

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to launch a section of a space station but I'm having CG issues. To keep this simple fuel is supposed to flow from the center core to the outer boosters. But I'm not getting any flow to one of the outer tanks. It's working for the other one. The lines are running in the right direction. I've tried replacing them and changing them up but for some reason I'm just not getting any flow to one set of tanks.

More detail, Central core for half of a refueling section. It has a big clampotron on the bottom. There are four boosters around it. First attempt had the central core with two fuel lines running out wards to the first set of booster to drop. So it drains the core then drops in asparagus. There is also a tank and engine on the bottom that also feeds off the last set of tanks so that after all the boosters drop it is still fully fueled.

I've tried resetting all the lines. Adding those first center lines individually or simultaneously as a pair. I've tried doing four lines to all outer boosters, odd but I thought it might work. For some reason it all works fine with all but one tank. All boosters were added simultaneously. All tanks on the boosters were added four at a time. Every thing seems to fit as it should. I could try to up load pics on it but it would take a dozen for you to be able to look at all the connections and more to show one tank draining in flight while the others don't. I don't think it would do much good unless you could play with the thing in the VAB your self.

So have you ever seen an asymmetric problem like this? I've done radial engines from a central core before. Are there any rules about how the fuel lines work that might affect this? I'm running out of ideas here.

You talk about several attempts and what happened to them, so it's very hard to understand what the current configuration is. That's why pictures are so useful. If you think we need to see the craft itself then provide a link for it! Don't be surprised if there aren't many people willing to download and install it though, as they'll have to create a set-up with exactly the same mod-list as you, which you will of course have to detail ^^.

Sound very similar to issue I had last year - thread at http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/46747-Uneven-fuel-ducting-when-feeding-from-one-tank has pictures and very helpful answers from folks on this board (as ever). (short version, highly suspect fuel loop)

edit: from post three on that thread things become clearer
