need help rescuing Camgrad kerman

Recommended Posts

i have been trying for the past two days to get an intersecting node between my spaceship and camgrad kerman. none of my planned maneuvers are able to get an intersecting node close enough. my closest intersecting node was around 1300 km.

If you have enough fuel, bring your Pe up to make the Descending node touch his orbit. Then do a prograde burn at the Descending Node until your next orbit gives you a close intercept. If you don't have the fuel, you can do the first half, then wait a bit and eventually you'll get an intercept.

I always make my initial launch burn Ap match the general orbit of the target, then circularise accordingly. If the target is ahead of me, I need my orbit to be lower than the target to catch up, if it's behind me then I need my orbit to be higher to allow it to catch me.

Match axis for your orbit by burning at the An and Dn and then just wait for the intersect to get closer until it tells you that the next orbit will out you behind/ahead, then adjust your orbit to bring the intercept within 5km.

I did as DBT85 said and achieved to be at 400 meters away. Then I aproximated making converge the navball vectors yellow and pink at very low speed.

Now I have my Kerbal at 3.7 meters. What I still don't know if how actually rescue him (I sent an automatic probe with an empty pod).

I've tried to press [ and nothing happens :-(

No message saying that now I control de Kerbal, and if I press R I only activate the rocket RCS system, not the Kerbal propulsion system.
