Good use for O-10 engine:

Two stage lander can, 900 d/v in descent stage, 1500+ dV in ascent stage. Uses one large radial RCS tank stuck under the lander can, and one small fuel tank with LV-909 for descent stage. Descent stage surrounded by 4 mat science bays and 4 goo cans. The parts overlap a bit but part clipping was not used. I think this really matches the aesthetics and functionality of Apollo with only stock parts and nothing too complicated. Also it's narrow enough to fit within a 2.5m->3.75m conical fairing under the CSM with a 3.75m S-IVB third stage.

Your deltaV can be increased by subbing that big parachute for a small one - the lander can weighs like 2 grams, so unless there's a block of Osmium clipped in there you shouldn't need more than one small parachute to land safely, especially if you're willing to puff the engines a bit just before touching down.

P.S. This thread should be in The Spacecraft Exchange.
