Celestia: explore the Solar and Kerbol systems, roams through the galaxies

I have just discovered Celestia, a software that allows you to explore outer space, including moons, planets, asteroids, spacecrafts, stars… I wanted to share it with you and I found even more; those are mods for Celestia that add the Kerbol System to Celestia

You can install those by simply putting Mocha2007 or extras/ksp in the extras directory of Celestia (i.e. /usr/share/celestia/extras). See https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Celestia/Add-Ons for more information. Once you have copied the files, simply start Celestia and hit Ctrl+F and search for Kerbin; once the planet is found and selected (upper left corner), hit G to focus and zoom to it.

Celestia is a great app. I like scripting camera actions in it. Its an impressive product.

Sorry Lajoswinkler, that was my abbreviation for application. I suppose a mobile version would be very useful.

I'm a long time fan of Celestia. KSP reminds me of it a lot. There's much about Celestia I think would make a great fit into KSP, but I'm sure the KSP devs have heard it all before. I find it unfortunate Celestia development has pretty much died off, although many of the original developers have moved on together to a new project Celestia.Sci ... not available yet, still in development.

Nice to see some Celestia fans here in KSP!

I don't know my version of Celestia, I'll have to check.
