SpacePlanes Plus Cargo Bays

So how do you all use them? I can't seem to attach anything inline with the ship to the bay, I can attach things to the floor and such but that's it really.

Also, does anyone have a smaller version of infernal robotics parts? They just seem to dang big to be able to make a arm that fits in a cargo bay.

I use docking ports inside the cargobay turn off the snap feature and they will fit fine.

I had the same problem, (see here) and Nathan pointed me to the Editor Extensions mod, which (among many other cool features) allows you to turn off the automatic surface attaching by pressing ALT+R. Thus you are able to easily put stuff at the main connector nodes only. Works perfectly.

I use a little trick mounting some temporary hold ontop off the plane, assemble the Payload there and then put it in the bay as a hole. Since subassemblies don't surfaceattach you can get it to the attachment node of the cargo bay.

Delete temporare payload hold point--> finished.
