[0.90] A funds, science & rep cheat menu for testing purposes

Update 16.12.2014: recompiled for 0.90

I always felt that the debug menu was lacking functionality to add and remove science and now funds & reputation. Obviously only for testing purposes since anyone who doesn’t want to bother with those constraints can simply play sandbox mode.

Therefore I hacked together a dead simple window which allows to enter any (float) amount for science, funds and reputation to be added. To remove simply put in negative values. Speaking of negative values: funds and science are capped at 0 automatically, so you can’t get a negative amount.

The window will appear only in Career mode and only in the SpaceCenter scene.

This is intended for modders, so there aren’t any comfort features or safeguards. That’s also the reason I’m not posting it in the release section.

Disclaimer: I shameless copied the base window code from sarbian’s ModuleManager.

hmm well this was inevitable.... although i usually do it manually i will try this :)

Yeah, I also did it manually until now, but you know, lazy

Anyway, I'm in the bad habit of putting stuff online once I did it, because why not.

Well guys i have to tell you that your work was senseless, there is already such an function in the normal debug window. Just open the debug window then press left alt key once and press it again and hold it for a few seconds.

Why the hell are they hiding that?

But thanks, so yep, this is useless and the thread can be closed/deleted (I can't do that myself, am I?)

I don't think this is useless - it can add arbitrary amounts that the default debug menu doesn't allow. Also isn't it possible to add negative numbers in the boxes to subtract science/rep/funds?

Arbitrary amounts may be a point, but the default debug menu can also remove funds etc.

Wouldn't have created this if I had known about the default option earlier today. Not too angry, though, since it only took me 5 minutes or so and now I at least know how to build crappy GUIs :D

In the good ole' days (mid nineties) the excel vba usenet group (probably something like microsoft.common.office.excel.programming.vba or whatever, they always had convoluted names) had a tread on what was the most effective "datestamp macro". It started the way we all do: writing a macro that enters the =today() formula, copy, paste special, yadda yadda yadda. Then of course if got mentioned that you can do that much quicker with real vba code, etc, etc.

And then somebody absolutely killed it by mentioning "ctrl ; (semi colon) does the same thing"

This thread reminded me of that. Thanks :D

Hey, the honor of a true developer requires him to have his own personal toolbelt library which does mostly what the framework already does but betterTM:wink:

No need to get rid of this – it's still much more fine-grained than the stock version.

If you do want this thread locked, you can ask for that here.

Well, since apparently some may find it useful I'd say we keep the thread and cease discussing it's relevance. No harm done anyway, right?

Since I’m now maintaining 8 mods already it gets a bit tedious to update several links spread over the forum (most updates change at least two mods due to them requiring each other).

Therefore I decided to bundle them on a common download page. You’ll find links to the forum post, source, license and of course the download there.

I also took the liberty to add a donate button since I can really use any cent you might have lying around – but that is, of course, fully optional! I talked with one of our cheerful mods so I shouldn’t be violating any forum rules.

I know it’s a bit less convenient than direct download links in the posts, but on the plus side should hopefully reduce the occurrence of dead links since I only update in one place. If you find any problems there is a direct contact option on the side so that I can react asap.

Thanks for bearing with me and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy my mods in the future!
