THE GRAND 400 CHALLENGE:

You get one point for every celestial body you plant a flag on, not counting Kerbin, Mun, or Minmus. You will receive a badge with your final score in your sig.

Rules:

1. You cannot launch any craft containing any engine/part or combination of engines/parts capable of producing an isp of 400 or greater under any conditions. Modded parts are allowed provided they follow this rule.

2. You cannot launch any craft containing any kerbal that does not end its existence by being recovered from the surface of Kerbin.

"Cheating" and Modding:

Because I know some people will insist on doing lengthy Grand Tours and don't want to relaunch things, some cheating will be permitted:

1. The cheat/mod must give you no advantage you could achieve without the cheat/mod. (Magically replacing your Tylo lander that doesn't have a ladder with one that does is okay)

2. All cheats must be approved by me (Cake) before being used. Mod lists and their functions must be submitted to Cake before beginning the challenge.

3. Part clipping is always allowed.

Proof:

Ample screenshots (landings, launches, transfers, etc.), or even better, YouTube videos.

Ships:

1. One ship* may leave Kerbin for every planetary system (e.g. one for Jool, one for Duna, etc.). After it has left Kerbin for the first time, it cannot interact (refueling, etc.) with any other ships that have not yet left Kerbin for the first time.*

*Refueling missions are allowed, but they are only allowed to bring resources and Kerbals. No bringing an extra lander. -0.001 points per ton of these crafts that are placed on the launchpad. Refueling does not cost you points if the ship to be refueled has not left Kerbin for the first time yet.

Bonus Points:

0.5 points for every celestial body landed on with an SRB-only lander

5.0 points for Grand Tours (only one ship leaves Kerbin, land on all celestial bodies excluding Kerbin, Mun, Minmus)

0.5 points if you make YouTube videos instead of screenshots (must be of good quality)

Mun and Minmus are applicable for points if the ship that lands on them was launched by an SSTO.

Is refueling allowed?

I think that Refueling is a VITAL part to making this Challenge work, HOWEVER Using hyperedit* to refuel your tanks I feel it Outside the spirit of this Challenge. However a working Davon supply module* that has been modded to work outside Kerban's sphere of influence ( within reason) is allowable.

Question: Can you please List the "Stock" engines that are valid with this Challenge for those of us that do not know the game/parts well enough. And You know that there are going to be lazy people out there that will not look at the part values of there engines.

Question: The 400 isp is this in atmo, or vacum, or for both?

Question: Can a NORMALLY over 400 isp part be modded and used provided its ISP is 400 or lower ? ( thinking of the KSO main engines of the KSOS Mod by Helldiver and Nazari1382) ( Also I think KIDS*, is capable of making this adjustment too.)

New Question: Are we allowed to launch craft for orbital assembly via docking before leaving Kerbin?

New Question: Can a craft dock at a Station in HIGH Kerban orbit ( outside 1 million meter orbit ) to refuel. Also I feel it would include landing at a moonbase for refueling.

*Hyperedit is a cheat based (classed as a cheat) program that allows resource refill on craft as with editing of orbits of any object.

*Davon resupply module is a part that refills itself in x kerban days within Keban SoI depending on distance. Must first be filled before resupply action is started.

*KIDS or Kerbal ISP Difficulty Scaler, can be used to make engine ISP's different to make it harder or easier on the player.

Edit: GHA ninja'ed

Davon supply maodule: I would consider any method by which you aquire free fuel, whether Davon or Kethane, is not permitted.

If you are considering this challenge, I hope you take the time to check your engines.

400 isp is for any and all conditions. Even though a nuke is 220 atmo, it still cannot be used in atmosphere because it had 800 vac.

Can a NORMALLY over 400 isp part be modded and used provided its ISP is 400 or lower? I don't know why you would do that, but okay.

Are we allowed to launch craft for orbital assembly via docking before leaving Kerbin? Yes.

There is no rule saying what height your Kerbin station may be at. However, all refueling deducts points from you.

Thank you this sounds GREEEEAT!

One more question, What about those out there that stream to Twitch and archive there videos? Will that work in place of Youtube, Or would there need to be edited, uploaded and put onto Youtube?

I "WAS" going to work on mine last night but got sidetracked by leaves on the rail and the lovely weapons mod by BahamutoD. And made a few missile launchers and planes.

I plan to send a few items into space do dock em together do I need the Tonnage of EACH launchcraft on the pad? Also would I need to get the tonnage of the refueling station that is going up before i fling the parts into space?
