Tips for RemoteTech 2 Network on Real Solar System

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I didn't find many useful information and tips so I'm trying to collect some of yours.

I'm using the Realism Overhaul mod with Real Solar System and Remote Tech 2.

I started to try out Remote Tech 2 on Kerbin so I'm kind of familiar with how it works and what is needed. Especially with the changes in Antenna Ranges by RO and the different distances.

What kind of antennas do you use for a basic relay network (to reach just behind moon), preferably with Omni Antennas?

Am I good to go with three satellites in LEO and omni antennas in Real Solar System? Which antennas should I use for that?

What are your experiences?

Thank you!

Well I've done something quite easy to set up, two GEO satellites TDRS-A and TDRS-B. They are both launched from the ESA's launch centre, so it uses the least amount of delta-v possible for a inclination change.

After you set up two GEO sats, I put one in a 11000km polar orbit, which patches up any blind spots in the GEO relay network. It takes a few tries to get right but you'll get there.

Also, I go with the Communitron-32's and two RT2 medium fixed dishes and two AIES long folding dishes. Point the AIES dishes at Earth and the RT2 dishes at the opposite satellite - I.E. point a TDRS-A dish at TDRS-B and the other dish at the polar sat. With these you can afford to only have two GEO satellites.
