I really liked that monologue. But.. War of the Worlds has already been done.

... So... What's that all about? I wasn't a big fan of the Tom Cruise movie, but it was.. okay. Kinda freaky. So what's the goal here? To try and make a better one?

Still hasn't been done right though.

I'm probably waiting forever on an adaptation of WotW that takes place in London, in the late 1800's.

Neither of the big films featured the chemical weapon, which IMO is much scarier than the heat ray.

Even the Thunderchild hasn't been done, and that's the best action scene in the whole story.

I always pictured the tripods as slow moving machines, I find them more menacing that way, and I'm with you vger, I was quite disappointed to see it was in the modern day.

Same. I love how the tripods look; they're absolutely terrifying for me. But seeing them move really quick isn't the same as having them move slow, like they did in the recent remake. I say they should keep the look, but make them walk slower.
