Hey andrew, there is a navy base near where I live. Its in Devonport, which is not far from me, just a couple kilometres away. It can hold all of new zealands navy, 11 ships in all (pretty bad huh). http://navy.mil.nz/mtf/default.htm I thought you or megalodon might wanna see the fleet

Scandinavia had a history of trolling the Soviet Navy's nuclear subs during the cold war. :)

Also, I live in San Diego. We've got a bunch of experimental warships and Nuclear Super carriers docked here, including quite a few nuclear submarines. :D

Not to mention some of the last remaining F-14 Tomcats. :D

Apart from Norfolk VA, SD NB is one of the largest naval bases. Then there's the jar heads over in Camp Pendleton. :P

I live near Portsmouth (Then again, Great Britain is small, so everyone else here lives close Portsmouth too) I went there to see the HMS Victory (oldest commissioned warship in the world, around 240 years old) and the HMS Warrior (First Iron warship), but the historic dockyard sits within Britain's largest naval base and there for I go to see the HMS Illustrious, HMS Diamond and many other Royal navy warships.Portsmouth was once the home of the world's largest and most powerful navy. I plan on going there again when the QE II enters the harbour for the first time, I can only imagine seeing Britain's largest ever warship.FUN FACT: When HMS Victory was put in drydock indefinitely, her fighting days seemed to be at an end but in WWII she was hit by a German bomb, and German propaganda claimed that she had been destroyed. The Government actually had to send out a notice that the ship had actually taken little damage.

Our history is yours, techincally.

Hehe. And South Korea (where my family's from) went under Japanese rule for a few decades.

Colonialism has a rather rich history, although the Italians decided to start their colonial crusade before WWII with some chemical weapons in Ethiopia. :P

I have a habit of mentioning this in most trailing conversations, but we went from talking about warships to talking about naval bases to talking about colonialism.....

Because our current naval realities are intrinsically tied to colonial history. :)

I know.:sticktongue: Devonport is a nice place. Its a cute little village with a view of the city. Apart from work and school, most people there dont need to leave. They have everything they need right there in Devonport.

No worries, same here. If i'm not wrong, most of the New Zealand navy's ships aren't available anywhere 'cept Aussie and here. Like the ANZAC class frigate.

Also the Kerbal Minds Corps. has just reached 300 pages!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

This is our Empire!http://i.imgur.com/NCw38SS.pngUnderlined areas are still under British rule.Sorry for link but I'm on a tablet.

Since everybody is talking about colonialism, may I ask a question? although I can google it I want to know what you people think. Has the Philippines ever been under British rule? as far as I know there are rumors that the British came here around the same time as the Spanish in the philippines. If you have heard of the Spanish-American War in the Philippines. I've heard that there is a third party participating specifically the British during colonial times.

The Falklands is quite an entertaining territory, especially when you factor in the histrionics of Argentina. :P

I can answer that question when I get back to AP World History after break. :D It's probably in my book, but I'm currently cramming for my other classes.

By a quick google search, the USA did establish a government over the Phillipines from about 1900 to the Japanese occupation in WWII, but Britain never did. I took AP US History a few years ago, so I probably knew that at one point but I had since forgotten. Listening to you guys talk about APs makes me feel old. I'm a sophomore in college/university. And some of you are in, like, middle school...

Edit: Britain did invade Manila and occupy from 1762-64. Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_occupation_of_Manila

Back on topic:

Three, I set up for our battle. Decided not to use my large battleship but instead went with 5 lighter ships: one Joedrin (old corvette), one Correy (new corvette, heavier and ion powered, more small missiles), two Sonalds (standard destroyer, but I rearranged the internal fuel tanks again for more delta-V, now has new missiles), one Hansel (standard cruiser, now has new missiles.) Total of 260 tons.

I think I found out why my ships are reporting higher mass in the tracking station: gear bays. My new missile uses 8 them as part of the warhead and they're nominally 0.5 tons each but are physicsless in game. I think that the misreported mass bug counts all physicsless parts. Didn't mean to say you were wrong about the separatrons, as a matter of fact you're probably right about them also.

PERSISTENT

I'm a second year student at my University. :)

What about our fight? can I use that persist for our own separate fight? or are we going to setup another one. I'll try if I can open that persist with my 0.25 version to test it.

Oh, cool to know. For our fight I was going to try to fix the struts on my new battleship since it's a bit more similar to the size of your ships. That'll take a bit of time. I'll try to get on it tomorrow morning before family comes over but I might not get it done because of preparations. Why don't you set up first for our battle, since I do have 0.25 working I will be able to open it no problem.

Excellent! Beginning combat "simulations" now. :D Now I can actually test my designs, because pitting my own ships against each other results in too many conflicting emotions for me to properly do anything (For example, say I fire a missile at my own ship, and it impacts and does only superficial damage. Should I be irritated that my missile did no damage, or happy that my other ship survived the impact? AAGH!), whereas testing against other people's ships does not.

Also, you are probably right that the missing mass factors in all massless parts, though I seem to remember that Gear Bays are no longer physicsless as of 0.90 (though I shall check that after posting this).

EDIT: Nope, apparently they are still physicsless. I do not know where I heard that there no longer were, but evidently it is untrue...

Been building a supercarrier; She's 1100 tons, 955 parts, 50 m long, can carry 65000 units of Liquid fuel and 70 Kerbals. She also features a full length hanger/flight deck. Not quite finished yet but space worthy:

That is at once awesome and terrifying. I do not know what use you will have for a ship that is at least 850 tons, if not closer to 1000, though it is certainly impressive.
