Erm, Spartwo meant for you to take over from him, and it was Eve, not Duna. I'd set up 3 ships at 500 tons (my fleet was around 550 tons with one showpiece dreadnought and 2 unarmoured cruisers). I'm happy to do something else if you prefer.

That's somebody else's ship at Eeloo, I left it there because I don't have the Sph file for it, delete if you want.

Oh, cool to know. For our fight I was going to try to fix the struts on my new battleship since it's a bit more similar to the size of your ships. That'll take a bit of time. I'll try to get on it tomorrow morning before family comes over but I might not get it done because of preparations. Why don't you set up first for our battle, since I do have 0.25 working I will be able to open it no problem.

I'll set up my ships then.

So, I'm fighting you with 3 or 4 ships?

Well, My initial idea was a 3v3 but my ships are pretty massive so I agreed to let Spartwo bring an extra ship to make up the weight on the condition that I get to go 1st. Up to you; 3 ships if you want to go 1st, 4 if you are happy to let me go 1st.

All in all, I think bringing 4 ships gives you the biggest advantage as I have to spend fuel and ammo to bring it back to a 3v3 where I still shoot second..

Ok, I'll deorbit one of my Calliduses and move the other into a lower orbit.

After the crash the ship's hull was actually pretty intact, her crew had survived and many of her internals in her midsection and her bow were still there.

I'll take my turn now.

BATTLE UPDATE

The TCMS Obliquus waits for one of the Fireflies to come to it's periapsis, then it rendezvoused with it and fired.

Her first pair of I-beams miss.

AUHJmij.png

The second pair hit, but only hit the little bit at the front, it seems that only minor damage was done. The third shot, an SRB missile, misses.

Megalodon 720, your ships are not that accurate, what's the problem? did you place your core modules properly aligned with the armament? or is there something wrong in the weight distribution on your individual SRB's/SRM's when fired. (I had the same problem when I used radial decouplers for my SRB's/SRM's, it turns out that left over parts on the side has some weight that could throw out a well aimed shot. Even misplaced parts can do it or a minor force from the adjacent missile)

That was just shoddy aiming from me, the missiles actually fire very straight.

Also, I'm going to have to quit this battle, my frigates can barely scratch paint.

Aww, I already took my turn. You killed that cruiser btw, being a showpiece the cockpit was actually the only pod apart from the ammo (see last screen).

Nah, I need better ships if I want to battle.

BUT! I now know, thanks to your turn, that the Callidus has two main weaknesses, she is easily immobilised and disarmed.

Here is the improvement I made on her weapon mounts, she is now harder to disarm:

As you can see, there is no longer a weak cubic strut holding the missiles on, but a very strong I-beam.

Here is the central spine which connects the ship's engines to the rest of the ship.

It is now covered by two layers of heavy armour.
