The strike force received a new addition, in light of rumors of a massive 240 ton capital ship. Another Nouvelle-class, known as Vielle, was sent in.

Mission Briefing:The 3rd Strike Force will engage any ships attempting to enter the orbit of Dres. Their primary goal is to stay at their station until the ground base is dropped.

The Nouvelle and Posterus class were sent to test their prowess.

Nouvelle

A battlecruiser with double and triple layered armor protecting her core, engines armored with plate, and the first high velocity 1.25 m missiles of the fleet!

She has 6 High Velocity High Mass missiles as her secondary armament, and rcs missiles to deal with fighters as a tertiary armament. She has 723 parts, enough logistics to command a fleet, and is 115 tons in total. Propelled by twin LV-N atomic motors, she is a slow beast with her ion engines so that she can reach anywhere with an extra fuel tanker.

Posterus

The Posterus was created as an alternative to the Nouveau for use in space combat. It has 8000 or so m/s of delta v, weighs between 63 and 65 tons depending on version. It carries 6 high velocity missiles that are capable of crippling most ships that are less than 100 tons in one or two shots. It also has 2 NERVA engines and 4 Ion Engines. It is double armored in the sides, and on top it has one layer of structural plate.

I must be insane.....

My new fighter will have these requirements:

*Single stage, nothing aside from weapons can be detached

*Under 20t (+ 1 ton payload capabilities)

*Laythe roundtrip capable without any refueling whatsoever (including landing there)

*VTOL capabilities

*Looks good (not just a stick of fuel tanks+wings+engine)

*Immune to anything weaker then a ibeam+sepatrons

*Extremely maneuverable

*Enough lift to land/takeoff on Duna

Am i as doomed to failure as the whole F35 program in trying to make a 1 fighter does every bloody thing the entire AKS military forces need? Or is there some sort of hope for me yet?

Just as doomed as the f-35 program unless you allow ion jet hybrids.

Forgot to add, at least 60KN thrust in space :)

If i were to use ions, thats 30 bloody engines right there......which weigh 7.5 TONS

I generally find 1 nuke for 20t to be comfortable TWR in space and it allows you to land on most low grav planets. Any less then 2KN per ton is just too annoying for me.

Really my biggest issue is teh VTOl ability, its alot of weight to have that engine in a bay (no other way as SSTOs cant have a sideways engine as super drag levels).

Canberra Corporate Space Command moves the CCSC Vindicator and the CCSC Ravager to the Dres System to quell these aggressive acts.

The Ravager moves to intercept a heavy Battlecruiser of the AES Fleet.

After Intercepting at a range of 1.9km she fires an anti Fighter Missile at the ship to test her armor. After that first shot she fires one of her Hellfire Mk-VI's at the ship which causes the Command center to break off from the main body.

HIT!

CCSC Ravager flies through the debris field.

I believe that is a Kill as the Command section is severed from the main body. I also followed the lighter ship first rule so please do the same.

Alpha, I have come up with a theory.

If you have two, for example 100 ton ships, against one 200 ton ship, the 200 ton ship would still have a better chance at winning, lets think about this, if you have 2 Nouvelles and a Vindicator right near eachother, your game would break, meaning you have to have one Nouvelle fighting the Vindicator at the same time, which would mean the first Nouvelle would be at a massive disadvantage and easily get destroyed without doing much to the Vindicator other than using some of it's missiles or doing a bit of damage to it's armour, leaving the second Nouvelle on it's own to fight, so instead of two 100 ton ships, it would be better to use one 200 ton ship, so we need to make a massive heavyS ship.

That can be your job. Working on getting a 65 ton posterus to fight a ship 4 times its weight.....
