Save game Directory change

Recommended Posts

Hello to all,

I like to add a suggestion to the KSP .

Wy the save are not in the user folder ?? like

C:\Users\custume\Documents\Kerbal Space Program

This way we can install the game as many times we need and not lose any saves.

Best regards

Custume

I have multiple installs of ksp, one stock, one modded without RSS and RO and one modded with RSS and RO. I really like the current folder structure and if it would be changed to the way you want it, all of my saves would be in all of my installs, which would be rather annoying.

if you are using windows (win 7 or 8) add a VHD, its not hard to do.

EDIT:

Open disk manager , on the top (in action) there is a option (create a VHD) make one them open the VHD and add it to a (empty) file in the game directory, you can add multiple locations if you really need.

EDIT 2

Oh and for loading the drive (on start up ) you need to add a script to the task manager to load the disk on startup.

Like this:

create a txt file add this to it : and rename it to something.bat

diskpart /s "E:\BOOT.SCRIPTS\VHD.1.file"

Note my script is in the e drive but you can change that

Them create another txt file and add this: and rename it to VHD.1.file

SELECT VDISK FILE="D:\Virtual.HD\saves.box.vhd"

ATTACH VDISK

Note that I have the VHD file at drive D

sorry forgot, and them add the script (something.bat) to a task to launch at startup.

So instead of creating a new problem and then coming up with a solution for it, just backup your saves when you uninstall

You asked why KSP saves are in the KSP folder. It's because everything is in the KSP folder, nice and compact

Okay, im not saying is a bad thing having the saves in the KSP directory, its just every time I decide to install the game or re-install I have to backup the saves or change them to another place, KSP can do this by default.

And I'm not giving a new idea to how backup the saves, the VHD idea I use in another game and for R0cketC0der looks like a good idea, but this is not a tutorial or even any good idea for all users, like I say KSP can do this by default.
