[Showcase] My Hangar

I see you are getting the military bug... Just so you can see some ideas in this (very) popular field I would suggest stepping by the Kerbal Interplanetary Defense Initiative thread, where the most glorious weapons exchange that I've ever seen on this forum took place. You can see how military design improved to the point some turn-based battle rules where created, and a few thread were spawned to actually do battles by sharing persistence files. Sadly, the excessive (for the moderators) roleplaying got most of those locked, so I won't link them here, but googling "battle club" or "naval battle" or the like next to "ksp forums" should turn up interesting stuff.

Rune. BTW, don't necro on the spiritwolf one! That series died a loooong time ago.

The first one (mine) lasted until recently until I closed it for astecarmyman to take over. Reviving KIDI is providing very difficult though.

First. Where I left off. Finished re-fuelling ( Because 1 was not enough to fill the tank )

Yes I went the long way (2200m/s not 1960ish) I was impatient and remember I have no Mech jeb or other auto pilot

To Maintain control of the loaded up beast I had to play with the thrust and ended up moving the HVY Drone around to shift the mass back, turns out it flys and will hold a bearing for 20min once u turn off 4 of the 8 nuke rockets on the wings which made it easier. Unfortunitly i was using the rapiers to speed this up and that really ate into the fuel so at approx half way through the burn i switched to nukes only

Also found it SO MUCH EASIER controlling the ship from the SSTO attached :D just pressing C is always easier then finding a probecore even if it is right infront of ones noise.

Re-fueled again ( did arrive in orbit with approx. 3000units of Li & Oxi but a battleship needs more :)

As to the war effort I worked out how to move ships between saves in location.

It takes a lot and I mean a lot of text copy past into the persistent file. So far I’ve done it with small unmanned craft so nothing this big but I have a plan

1. Decouple the HVY Drone Fighter. This should reduce the part count by approx. 150

2. De-man it. This is just so I don’t have to muck around with crew which seems to be located in a different part of the file.

3. Copy the mountain of text that relates to each and every part on the “VESSEL†( this even includes its rotation )

4. Paste said VESSEL into another save and test

Sounds easy and it was for craft under 50 parts but for this almost 1000 part monster …..

I think I might have to google some more for a better text editor.

Once I've gotten all the text together and tested it I will upload it here so u can test her out around laythe 2 :D

Also for those that come by wanting the craft files to check it out for them selves JR has already put most of them up in here:cool:

I have isolated what I think is all of it, but... it's not working.

It appears at the tracking station but cant be switched 2

I think the problem lie's with either the crew ( 1 fighter has a pilot that cant get out,early model that went up for testing which I guess I need to replace or un-dock) or with the docked ships themselves.

I'm sure there's an expert on the forum that could show my were I went wrong

So please forum experts help me out and check this code for mistakes/missing bits:confused:

Oh on the battle front ...I got distracted. So far she has but 2 targets in position as I'm back in career making money for a Basic mun base I'm developing as a budget / basic tech tree friendly kind or setup. With your mun city as inspiration

Yeah I've been too busy with work lately to get much done in the game I really have been neglecting the Mun City thread... What you have there looks great Kris - pretty soon I'll be downloading your stuff to add to my colonies! :)

... but seriously, I'd like to know how you did your bendy connectors.
