"Clear the Launch Pad" message when there's a rocket at Easter Egg site

When I try to launch any craft from the VAB of my Kerbin save game it gives this message:

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone tried this and got the weird error message. I was going to set up a challenge to see who could launch the most payload into orbit from the old launch facility without using edits, but if this error comes up I should warn people about it.

Yes, it is known bug (or artefact). That old launchpad still counts as launchpad and so anything sitting on it is recognized as blocking the launchpad.

I know it's contrary to what you had intended but if, for other reasons, you would like to use KSC West and the island runway or maybe add others, have a look at Kerbin-Side, which makes other bases around Kerbin.

I once planted a flag on the other launch pad with the same result. You can recover it ( or for flags, kill it ) in the tracking station.

Yup, the game recognises the other space centre's launchpad as the launchpad biome.

Editor extensions lets you switch between VAB and SPH editing modes, and with that between launching from the pad and the runway. It might let you work around this issue.

And congrats on a nice bit of flying getting the rocket onto the KSC West pad.

Good to know... I noticed you called it KSC West, is that the official name? (I called it KSP North - I was going to call it Kerbinsk but I didn't think anyone would understand what I was talking about)
