Sandbox Mode should not have fewer features than Career Mode

Recommended Posts

The only things that should be given to sandbox mode that isn't are Science reports.

Before they updated career with funds, the only difference was science. Now with funds there is much more differences between career and Sandbox. With the NEXT update, there will be even more features in Career that makes it a totally different game mode than Sandbox.

So i always felt it was only a matter of time till the Devs give Sandbox mode the ability to read the Science Reports. For the most part when career was first implimented the main feature to continue playing sandbox was the science reports. Especially once one completes the tech tree. Now Funds keep Career a continuous "space program" which also gives something to deal with at all times.

So besides that Sandbox doesn't need any more features.

Adding contracts makes no sense as most of them are incredibly boring without Funds/reputation/science rewards. People already complain about most of the contracts being tedious and boring to complete. Throw in the fact they pretty much mean nothing to you, sandbox wouldn't be much better with useless contracts getting in the way.

Reputation would also be useless, since it already isn't very useful in Career

and Science would be completely wasted as there is nothing to unlock.

Finally funds would make Sandbox more interesting, but then with Funds comes contracts. Which again can be repetitive and easy to complete with all the parts anyways. So we come back to how Sandbox can only be improved with what has already been shown. Science reports being given in sandbox.

I like the idea of funds. I hate the implementation of contracts. I wouldn't mind some incremental funds. Something in which the player could determine how much and in what time frame funds are delivered. Until such a thing comes about, I'll stick to my funds spreadsheet. ...I'm in to deep.

Also, why can't we use the science archive? A record of what I've done would be quiet valuable, even if the science points are not.
