Do I even need to explain this?

We still need to design our vessels in one piece. Marrying a payload to a lifter should be a piece of cake, but usually isn't.

It makes sense to reduce the number of possible connections on a subassembly -- if every part of the subassembly could connect to every part of the active vessel, this would be a usability nightmare. But how about a subset of "connector" parts, like decouplers and docking ports?

If other restrictions mandate that there should be exactly one connectable part on a subassebly, then by all means, please include something Select_Root-like in the default toolbox. Though I'd much prefer if there was a more straightforward way of doing it.

Noones making you design your vessle in one piece though. If your rockets are big enough, it's easier to split it up in several launches and docking in space.

On that note, select root functionaility really should be stock yes

There should be a way to select an unsatisfied connector of the subassembly by which it should get connected to the main assembly.
