Symmetry Bug: 5,7,9+ fold symmetry without mods!

I first encountered this bug after attempting to build an inline docking system for fuel tanks on large interplanetary vessels. And with it, you can unlock hidden and surprisingly bug-free exploits in the symmetry tool.

Step 1: Open a new craft. Here I started with a MK2 lander can as my root part and a rockomaxx fuel tank.

Step 2: Build a structure like so with two-fold symmetry on top. I just used girders, and this works fine. It doesn't matter what you use, It won't be a part of your final spacecraft.

Step 3: Save your girder tee as a sub-assembly.

Step 4: Now attach your newly made sub-assembly to the side of your craft. I find it works best if the girder Ts are oriented like in the picture.

Step 5: Now comes the tricky part. Grab your strut and AS YOU ARE DRAGGING IT ONTO THE SPACECRAFT, PASS YOUR MOUSE OVER THE 'SIDEWAYS' PART OF THE GIRDER T'S. Then connect the strut from the core column to the girder T's. You should notice that not all of the struts connect. GOOD JOB! YOU ARE NOW IN 5x Symmetry mode.

I don't know if the strut has anything to do with it. It might just have to do with passing over the T's while holding the part.

Step 6: Remove the struts and girder T's. Don't touch the X key and don't touch the symmetry button. Have fun building rockets with 5-fold symmetry.

Doing 7 and 9+ fold symmetry is done in much the same way.

The only difference is when you attach your Girder Glitch T's, you're going to do it with 6fold symmetry to start out with. This will get you to 7fold since exploiting this bug moves you +1 Symmetry.

If you want 9 or more symmetric parts, start your girders with 8-fold symmetry. Once you have your part attaching in 9-fold symmetry, tap the X-key to continually increase symmetry.

WARNING. YOU WILL HAVE TO EXIT AND RETURN TO THE VAB WHEN USING THIS GLITCH WITH 9+ FOLD SYMMETRY, IF YOU WANT TO TURN IT OFF; AT LEAST AS FAR AS I CAN TELL. SAVE YOUR WORK!

In exploiting this glitch, the secret symmetry levels seem pretty non-buggy.

2ND WARNING: HIGH LEVELS OF SYMMETRY (20+) CAUSE A LOT OF LAG. DON'T USE THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE A BEEFY COMPUTER OR ARE ATTACHING ONLY ONE OR A FEW PARTS.

Here is me attaching fuel tanks in 13fold symmetry. No BS here. I promise you.
