Yeah, kerbpaint. It's a really good mod for making your horrible-looking crafts into wonderfully good-looking crafts.

Sadly I can't get kerb paint to work any advice

Press 'P' when you want to paint a part. Beware though, a lot of parts aren't paintable. Holding 'P' not on a part will make all paintable parts blue. If that doesn't work, make sure that you're using the latest version of KerbPaint and don't have any other mods with the module manager mod.
