Are the Kermans the result of inbreeding?

Despite being based on humans (I assume), the kerbals are quite different. The green skin, the eyes not being the same size, et cetera. I was pondering this, when I began to wonder if the Kermans are actually just really, really, really, inbred humans. Think about it, why else would they all have the same last name?

My take is that they're all clones, although cloning techniques on Kerbin aren't fantastic which is why you get some clever Kerbals and some not so clever ones.

As they have no females i'm pretty sure they do not have sexual reproduction...

I always imagined that the Kerbals always reproduce by spreading their spores. So they ride a rocket, the rocket explodes, spreading their spores all over Kerbin which then grows into new Kerbals.

I like to think of them as frogs people that can change genders as needed

The use of Kerman at the end of the name might have a different meaning in Kerbal culture. Maybe it just means "From Kerbin"

I always took the Kerman to be a title. Jebediah Kerman or Jebediah (Resident of Kerbin) Like saying John Earthling. Why having your planet as title is necessary...I don't know :/
