Not even remotely budget friendly lab rover

I made this a while ago before budgets were released. But I'm absolutely in love with my armada (I have one on every celestial with a few spares parked in LKO in case more celestials are released), and I figured I would share.

The ship is capable of landing the rover on any currently existing celestial body with a Kerbodyne S3-7200 worth of fuel left in the orbiter as long as you pick a half way decent window.

I designed these ships to be capable of taking ALL the science from any planet, even when more celestials get biomes. Just hit a small jump to get "flying at" science and use the jet to get upper atmosphere science (and flying at science for Jool).

The little lander on the back of the orbiter can land a kerbal on a chair attached to a probe core and clamp-o-tron Jr. on any planet/moon except Eve. Meet up with it with the rover and refuel the lander and it can get back to a 400km orbit around Tylo.

In any case, I hope y'all enjoy.

Requires BoatParts and MechJeb

I used a similar one to the OP in 23.5 ...

But TBH the launcher seems ridiculosuly big. Mine was much smaller IIRC ...

The Launcher *IS* ridiculously big because it is designed to leave your orbiter with almost 4000 fuel around Moho or Eeloo. This is a single launch to capture ALL the science around any planet. That's what it takes to do and look pretty.

Very impressive for a single launch. I've done my own on a similar scale but each component of the landing assembly needs a redesign. I like your version with the large round tanks.

Use the ruggedized wheels. They are more durable, you can go faster, and they consume less energy per wheel.

Hey Jake. Any luck landing a lab on eve and getting it home? I'm of mind to make something like yours so it can drive to a mountain. Similar to your grand tour but bigger.

I wouldn't recommend trying to lift a lab from eve, it's quite the endeavor. Getting that lab home makes the payload to Eve orbit around 31T (fuel. parachutes, and one atomic engine for the ride home), I'm not sure that can be done, and the ship certainly wouldn't be a single launch from Kerbin lol.

Better to just pull the science out and bring your Kerbal up in a smaller ship.
