KSP has been lagging hard... And I've never had it before. [64 bit]

Recommended Posts

So... I upgraded my PC about 3 months ago. Played KSP in 0.23.5 on this machine and was getting 120 fps.

Decided to re-install since it's in v.24.2 and; well, I'm getting 20. I have no idea why.

Specs:

CPU - Intel i7 4860 Quad Core,

GPU - Dual NVidia GTX 780's

Memory - 32 GB

Windows 8 64 bit Premium

The rest isn't important and doesn't effect the over all performance.

Truth is, it's only KSP. I can run DayZ Standalone (which is known for being optimized horribly as of now) at a solid 60 fps with everything maxed, yet now for some reason KSP can't run at something playable. I'm wondering if it has to do with it being in 64x bit. I'm downloading the 32x bit as I write, to do some more testing. Regardless, I have no idea why KSP can no longer run to something playable.

Anyone know why? Lowering settings has no impact on the games performance.

If i remember correctly, ksp is really cpu-heavy not gpu-heavy.

You can try to use 32 bit, and if your running mods use this mod: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59005-0-24-Release-3-3-1-Active-Texture-Management-Save-RAM-without-reduction-packs! It helps to give you performance and run more mods (not sure about performance though)

That might not cut it so from what i know you got pretty decent there so...

Check around your files incase mods that are performance heavy are installed without you knowing (eg a friend maybe?)

As you said lowering settings dosen't help, try checking your task manager this happened to me a game was lagging hard, got my processes from 100 to 20 and then those games worked really well, here's how to do this: http://www.wikihow.com/Reduce-CPU-Usage

If that dosen't help i'd say doing a full reinstall not just the ones that steam uninstalls to do this go to your steam directory (or where-ever you installed it to)

I installed it into Local disk C/Program Files x86/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Kerbal Space Program

Then delete kerbal space program and then re-install on steam.

If i wasen't any help i'm sorry i'm a xbox gamer recently converted to pc so my knowledge is limited.

If i did help atleast a little bit then i'm glad i could help :)

None of this works, well reply and let me know i'll do some digging and see whatever else i could rummage across.
