C4d collision node

Recommended Posts

Hi all :).

I am having problems getting my model to work in the game, I have exported the model to .DAE and put it in game but the game halts on load up.

PartsLab says : ERROR: collision node found, but no mesh in it.

I have tried it with a default fuel tank object and it loads and works but not with the model I have made.

I am not sure what is going wrong with it, the collision mesh is a basic 12 sided cylinder so there shouldnt be any problem, I have textured it (different texture to the actual object) it is named node_collider.

Could this be a problem with c4d or could it be that I have not made it correctly.

I would use blender but havent ever used it and would take me a while to learn it- would this be worth considering.

Thank you in advance.

Please check the rest of the forum, there was one person before you attempting to use Cinema 4D to export Collada Models. It didn't work. He had to switch to blender, and his exports worked. Hope the same works for you.

Also:

afaik : object and collider should get the same material / texture

I always do this, so I haven't seen what happens if you don't. But according to wiki, they simply need textures.

Also, @ OP the collision node shouldn't be apart of the mesh. They should be two separate meshes, and to export just select both.

sweet, I will try attaching one texture to both. Sorry about the same thread, I have read the post by esd. I was hoping to use c4d but suppose I will have to learn blender, just looks too confusing.

Thank you again guys :)

I made a small revision to my post, giving some more advice. Blender looks complicated, but every 3D program is until you get the hang of it. There many other programs to choose from though. I suggest 3DSMax or Maya.

I'm still using C4D for all my modelling/UV/texturing needs, I'm just exporting the results as a .obj and then importing that into Blender, and exporting into .dae from there. Using it as nothing but a .obj -> .dae converter. Just remember to rename your collider mesh to node_collider in Blender before exporting!
