KSP crashes on startup

Playing 0.24.2 on 32-bit KSP, the game will get past the loading screen, but crashes when trying to load the main menu.

I checked task manager while the game was starting up, it would slowly rise to 3.4GB while loading, then drop to 3GB when the asset loading screen disappeared, then it would crash.

I'm likely to think it's crashing due to RAM usage, but I'm just wanting to confirm; I've just got rid of B9 and Kethane to try and save on RAM, so i don't really want to have to get rid of anything else... If it is a RAM issue, is there anything else I can do to reduce without getting rid of any more mods? I already have active texture management...

Yup, out of memory:

DynamicHeapAllocator out of memory - Could not get memory for large allocationCould not allocate memory: System out of memory!

You could try switching to ATM aggressive if you haven't already and switching to lower resolution versions mods (especially EVE) or editing the ATM configs for particular texture-heavy mods like KW. Some people have also had luck with the -force-opengl option.

Ah right, thanks for the confirmation! I was looking at the ATM page, but there doesn't seem to be an Aggressive download anymore, just one; also when you click on the download, it comes up 4 versions, including the x86 release and x86 basic release, is Aggressive one of those?

I'll try the force openGL to see if that works, thanks again!

Right... Aggressive is now just "Release" and Basic is "Release-basic." Remeber to delete your texture cache after you update or make changes to the ATM config.

Ah right, thanks. Tried force opengl, and my RAM usage dropped from 3.4GB to 1.8GB (or thereabouts), so KSP starts fine now... Haven't had any of these frame rate issues people are having sometimes either, so all good! Thank you very much Master Tao!
