Any keyboard input gets mac error noise

Recommended Posts

Haven't played KSP in a while, just reinstalled on Steam, trying to play on a 64-bit Macbook Pro with OS X 10.9.4.

Game seems to load fine, responds to mouse, but any keyboard inputs just result in the "dunk" Apple error noise.

Apologies if being an idiot here!

Thanks,

Stu

They also tell you what information to include when requesting support.

Well, without meaning to be difficult, see below. My comments in red.

Which information should your support request have?

  • KSP version including Windows, Mac, or Linux, 32 or 64-bit, and if it's Steam

Included above.

  • A detailed explanation of what happened and what you were trying to accomplish

Hard to include additional detail when it seems to be a simple problem. It done dunks when I push buttons. This was a reason for my "I might be being an idiot here" comment.

  • A screenshot of your craft or any relevant screens

Happy to oblige with a screenshot of the offending noise, if requested.

  • A .craft file or save files if relevant

Doesn't seem relevant?

  • The ouput_log.txt or player.log file KSP creates when it launches and, if applicable, the crash log KSP has generated when the program crashed

No crash occurring.

  • A detailed list of system specifications

Included.

The Player.log is always generated. In fact, I've never known KSP to crash on my Mac. Hang, sure, but not crash. That log includes detailed information about what happens as KSP is loading and running.

You also haven't listed your KSP version – since you say you haven't played in some time, I don't whether you've updated to 24.2. Since you're on a Mac, I'm 99% certain you're using a 32-bit KSP, but there's a barely-loading 64-bit hack and you could always be loading Windows or Linux through dual-boot or virtualization. Side note: I don't think you're being obtuse – that has actually come up before.

The system information, while detailed, is really only readable on Macs. When I first started seeing those, I thought someone must have accidently uploaded a Speex file. It would help to post that information in a more human-readable format as suggested by the sticky.

Other information that might help is what kind of keyboard you're using, whether you have the latest drivers for it, and whether you use any software keyboards. For example, I have software keyboards to let me type extended characters on a US keyboard, the International Phonetic Alphabet, and two different Chinese input methods. I've had issues with another piece of software while using the Chinese input methods.

You're right about screenshots and craft files, and I'm plenty familiar with that noise.
