Anybody know how to use the ISRU?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to use the ISRU from KSP Interstellar, but I'm having issues. I built a lander with two of these babies on it to go to Mimnus to extract water from the ice there. Only problem, I click the "Extract Water" button in the tweakables, and nothing seems to happen. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have enough power. Ive got 8 of those RTGs.

I've checked out the wiki and the forum page, but neither seems to provide much insight on the topic.

Does anyone out there know what I'm doing wrong, and are there any resource extraction tutorials out there I can look at?

Yeah, you need more power, also extracting anything is not a fast process. If you open up the Interstellar Toolbar Button in flight it will show you how much power you need vs how much you have.

I can access the Thermal Helper, but nothing happens when I click the Megajoule Power Manager.

The megajoule manager will only show if you have some source of megajoules.

NO AMOUNT of normal electricity will count as Megajoules, if you do not have some source of megajoules onboard. If there is such a source, the power manager will work.

Normal e can be converted to MJ,the conversion factor is 1/1000.

In Interstellar, you simply need to have a reactor with appropriate generators.

(The opposite works always though. MJ can be used as e in virtually any situation.)
