Discuss: Recover asteriod gets...

Recommended Posts

I think the scientific experiments you can do with an asteroid are biome dependant and so you can get new science from being landed at each biome on kerbin... So as long as you can drag it around, you have a goldmine of science...

Asteroids may be sampled from different situations or even different biomes when the asteroid is landed on a celestial body.

Funds for asteroid recovery would make the most sense to me, simulating harvesting rare metals from them. Probably based on the mass of the asteroid as that would make going after larger ones with more expensive ships worthwhile. It would be great to have a method of generating funds that does not involve contracts.

Maybe a bit of science and reputation from the first few recovered, but if you do it enough that it becomes routine those rewards should be reduced or eliminated.

I`d like science for doing science on a roid anywhere, science and rep for a crew report while attached to a roid anywhere (possibly biome dependent) and lots of cash for getting a roid under 100km orbit and using it up (recovering). Science and rep could reduce in the same way as returning to the same biome now.

You should get Funds if you recover the Asteroid. As said above if you can drag it around it gives TONS of science. Since Reputation still needs attention i see no reason it should give any but many in the future it should give some.

The Funds should be related to how big the asteroid is. Simply put you should be able to get A LOT of cash if you can land large sized ones, and still profit on single mission small ones.

Personally i see no reason to degrade the value of "Asteroid farming", they are randomly generated forever. In the same way contracts are and i feel the fact both of these can provide profit gives me the impression asteroids should offer the same.

I think that the value should increase (just a little bit) the more of them that you recover and that you should get a ton of reputation for them, because other agencies would say "they recovered a big asteroid, they must be a good company, I will recommend them." and that the value should increase because you would have more people wanting those resources, so you could charge a higher price. and I also like the idea of getting science for the first few (I think 10 would be good) and it should degrade as you get those 10 instead of dropping off. if I am not asking to much, it would be nice to chose between science and funds. and also, if the science and funds did not automatically appear, but came at a pretty fast, but steady rate because you would not get all your science and funds instantly, but rather would have to analyze it and sell it.
