rocomax booster

i have a contract to test rocomax booster and i can't finish these 2 :

- height from 20700 to 27000

- speed from 250 to 500 m/s

something like that

i mean i get to 22000m with 300 m/s and then i start falling, i activate my parachute, and when i land "ticks" from contract are gone like i haven't completed them.

i think the problem is i mustn't get below 250 m/s after reaching it, but i have to in order to land and save dammit

You have to activate the booster through staging, right-clicking or right-click it and click "run test" to finish the contract.

If there is no "run test" option on launchpad, you have to go with staging activation.

It must be staged, not activated. There's a difference.

If you right click activate or use action groups you can indeed fly up there on the part to be tested.. then stage once criteria are met.

or even if you do stage it too early, add. new empty stage under the engine and stage when criteria are met.

it's applicable to anything with a completion parameter that requires staging.

Egg-zactly yes. Parts-testing contracts got SO MUCH EASIER for me when I (finally) figured that out. FUEL is not required, just the ability to stuff the part into the next stage and hit the space bar.

Yep - that's the trick. It's easy if you tweak all the fuel out so the **** thing is as light as possible and doesn't do crazy things to your ship when you 'activate' it by staging.

i didn't understand you very well, now i was at the 22.000m, going 400 m/s and i right clicked on booster, there wasn't any "run test", then i right clicked on the icon of the booster (left bottom corner) and again nothing.

i also tried doing it before launch and on vehicle assembly, but nothing at all.

please explain better, what the hell am i supposed to do?

you must not use the part you want to test before testing. as soon as the requirements are met activate it via staging or run test (might need to right click on it again)

When you achieve the green ticks to tell you the parameters have been met you need to stage the part with the spacebar, you can already have the part activated, it can even be depleted. all you need to do is click the + in the staging sequence at the bottom left of the screen to add a stage below the one you need to activate then stage back through to it when the contract conditions are met.

The device tests all come in one of two possible varieties, and if you click on the blue plus sign above the test conditions it will tell you which one it is. Either you "activate through the normal staging sequence" or "select 'run test' from the right-click menu". Your contract is probably the first variety, so you have to activate the booster from the staging sequence like you would any other engine. As others have pointed out, the key is you don't need to set it up so it actually works - take out all the fuel and don't bother putting a decoupler between the test device and the previous stage.

There should be a test key that can be assigned so when you press it, it tries to activate all the tests possible on your craft.

Might make a good mod.
