Rescue contract - can't see target

Trying to complete a rescue contract. I have the kerbal targetted and am within only about 500m but I can't see him. When I switch to him with bracket I can control him but can't see my rescue ship anywhere. ?? Shouldn't either of them have a nice, bright yellow target on them with info when viewing from the other? I can't move toward and board a rescue vessel that is... invisible.

You may have toggled off the markers. Try hitting F4.

If you have any installed, you can also turn on some lights. The kerbals have some built into their space suits. While you might be too far to illuminate something with them, it might help you to spot the lights in the distance. Either that or wait till you are on the day side. I think the tags auto hide after you get close enough. I don't know if F4 brings them back at close range.

Also, the markers on the nav ball can help out.

Also, your best bet is to set the other as a target. Then they will have a target symbol show over them when out of map view.
