[Pic-heavy] Analysis of the Administration Building

I decided to take a look at the new building at KSC. Also, my kerbal of the day, Ribgel, wanted to take a swim in the pool. So I built a little rover quickly to carry him over there. Beep beep, Ribgel coming through!

Unfortunately, when he got there, he was somewhat confused by the pool. It doesn't exactly seem like water...

Ribgel decides to get out in order to get a better look. He concludes that this is indeed not water. Perhaps it is a sheet of cellophane or glass to trick hapless kerbals like him into trying to dive in, then hitting their heads on the bottom.

Of course, this makes him very angry. You can just see the rage on his face.

Now, Ribgel believes in preparedness, so he packed a special surprise for the Administration building in case it failed to live up to his expectations.

Like a sensible kerbal, Ribgel ran a simulation before he fired his surprise for real. He determined that the main SRB should be fired immediately after leaving the confines of the bay, otherwise it would overshoot its target.

Oops.

The new SRB effects are very nice, though.

His surprise launches without incident, and is on target for the building.

Unfortunately, it does not destroy it. The kerbals who designed this building must have anticipated irate kerbals launching SRBs at the walls, and so lined them with armour plating.

Drat!

This was merely a minor setback, though! Ribgel calls in a favour he's owed from the Kerbal Air Force, and diverts a bomber from its flight path.

"This is Delta-Alpha-Foxtrot, we're approaching the target zone now. Say, these buildings look pretty familiar...."

"Shhhhhhhhhh, don't worry about it."

"Ordinance deployed"

"Did we hit it?"

While the bomber was indeed on target, the Administration building remains standing. The kerbals who built it must have got the plans mixed up with a bomb shelter or something.

(man, do I love these Spaceplane Plus parts)

Getting desperate now, Ribgel goes straight for the nuclear option. That's right. He orders up a ballistic missile.

"NO BUILDING CAN WITHSTAND ITS POWER!"

15288858197_487c6f77ea_c.jpg

Maybe Ribgel shouldn't be allowed to hang onto the launch codes after this.

Fortunately, the 'bomb' is just a LV-N motor. The engineers didn't want to pay for a full nuclear device, so they just stuck some fins and things on the atomic engine, hoping no one would notice. So far, nobody has.

But despite its lack of explosive capacity, it does the trick. The Administration Building is no more.

And Ribgel is thrilled. Even though the accursed pool still survives, the building itself is gone.

Here he stands, having achieved victory over an inanimate building. Good job, Ribgel.
