Unable to get to starting screen

Recommended Posts

Good morning / afternoon. As of yesterday evening when I try to start KSP it goes through the first bit of loading, however when it gets to the point where it normally transitions to new game, load game and so forth the game instead immediately closes without any error message displayed. To this point I have deleted settings, reinstalled the game and restarted the computer without success at getting KSP to load. The error file in the present is

Unity Player [version: Unity 4.5.2f1_9abb1b59b47c]

It doesn't take long to answer why it crashes, you ran out of memory while loading ;)

Be sure you have a completely clean install of 0.25, it's possible that if you use the patcher that you have duplicated parts folder and that can even happen when you didn't delete the KSP folder completely before re-installing via Steam.

If it still crashes after complete deletion of KSP folders and clean reinstall, then it's related to you running a 32bit OS and only having 2GB user-address space which would indicate misconfiguration. (LAA flag not set?) also called the /3GB flag but even if that flag were not set, you can only use 3GB of RAM on that machine, a single application can only access 2GB of ram.

Consider using an 64bit OS or set the /3GB flag (I have however no idea how to do that in Windows 8)

KSP needs more than 2GB of ram for itself. And you are for some reason running out of Ram in GENERAL. Closing applications that you don't need before starting KSP might also fix it. Like browsers, steam etc. They all use RAM, ram you have very little to actually use.
