Administration strategies bug

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, could not find anything about this, sorry if it has been reported already. Playing on hard, unmodded.

I was using the admin building for the first time I set up 2 simple strategies that should take 50% of funds and reputation and convert it to science, but it seems that instead it's converting 100% of each into science. See pics. At least my tech tree is complete now :)

Not sure what's wrong.

Also would be nice to see the original science pay and the gain in the contract.

What are your difficulty settings?

Maybe you set the rewards to 50% and the game incorrectly calculates the reward.

Example:

Reward 100 science points

-50% difficulty (not shown)

-50% strategy (shown)

= 0 science points

In a way that makes sense.

Your picture is actually correct. It's just a little confusing with a string of numbers like that, and you happened to chose 50% (so the numbers rewarded and converted are the same). The numbers before the parenthesis is what was actually added to your resources after strategies are applied. The number in parenthesis shows how much was converted because of strategies.

What's really happened is that you were awarded 44k funds, 22k went into your funds and 22k was diverted to science (-22k). Same thing for rep, 270 awarded which gave you 135 rep and 135 converted to science (-135). The result was thet you received 779 converted science (in parenthesis) and the base contract actually rewarded zero science (no number before the parenthesis).

Hope that makes sense, maybe try a throw away save game with different percentages (other than 50%) and it might make more sense.

Totally see it now :) For some reason i kind of felt there was no fund/reputation rewarded which kind of added to the confusion.

Thanks

This is far too confusing... The number in parenthesis for the science reward is what you're actually getting. If the contract normally awarded 0 science, and the conversion is giving me 700 science, then I should see [scienceIcon]700 (+700).

No, the number in parenthesis is what's been converted.

The above picture does have a bug, in that the base contract awards zero science and isn't showing the total science with the conversions. It should show like you said, with 700 (+700). (But that wasn't exactly what the OP was asking about.)

If the parenthesis showed what you were getting, then the OP would receive -22k funds and -135 rep for contract completion (which wouldn't make sense at all).

I agree that it's not very intuitive, but it is how it's set up. Yes, there's a display bug, but it's not what the OP was asking about.
