Where did the control surfaces go?

Recommended Posts

I must be blind then, because I only found the structural version.

Must be, it's definitely there, unless you have a bad install.

And btw, I like the new texture for the Mk1 fuselage parts. The cockpit is strangely less detailed and very hard to align a ladder to now though, it also looks as if it has air intakes but they don't function which is weird (of course the Mk2 looks like it has RCS that doesn't function). I think they need to go back to the drawing board with the Mk1 cockpit.

I play on a big screen (2560x1600), where all parts in each section were always visible, so I was caught off guard when the increased number of parts pushed some to different pages. There's a funky arrow at the bottom to go to the next page.

Not a very pretty one, but a texture all the same.

Which made me happy, as I was using the old texture for another part already. I'd scaled a copy of that tank down by half (down to 0.625m) and replaced its fuel with xenon for ion engines; it was about the size of three stock xenon tanks, which made fuel transfers a bit easier. It also made it easier to build ion probes, since placing items on the seams between xenon tanks was causing all sorts of problems. So now I've got one texture for structural xenon tanks, and a different one for structure liquid fuel. Very handy, although using custom parts does make it difficult for others to use your craft files.

As to the original topic, the new flaps are really nice, although removing the old types does make it tough on those of us who like transferring our craft files from one version to the next.

Control surfaces are automatically replaced when you open the .craft file. There is no difficulty copying ships between 0.24.2 and 0.25 - apart from the fact that some of them just don't fly any more.

Yes, but the new parts aren't the same shape as the old ones. A lot of translation problems in 0.25 are similar; the craft file stores the position of every part, but when the part changes it does strange things to your designs. (Changing the basic SAS wheel to a 0.625m part created gaps in a lot of my designs.) The shapes of the control surfaces are mainly aesthetic, but it's still an annoyance.

Oh how I wished I had that problem!! I have about 5 pages on one section!!
