So... today was the first time I had ever lost a kerbal in Career mode. I had blown most of my funds on a prototype aircraft that would test the Basic Turbojet, the Rockomax 42-7s and the Small Gear Bay, and would've brought in enough funds to supply the next Mun mission.

It did not go well. First, four of eight ailerons were inverted. Note that they are not being controlled in the next image.

I couldn't pull up. I tried a desperate abort attempt, just circle back around and land, but I couldn't maintain a decent descent, and the craft was destroyed on impact, killing Jeb and Bill.

I accepted more contracts to boost my funds. The second mission was a success, (I added front canards for extra control)...

...and I pulled myself out of bankruptcy. I will make a memorial for Jeb and Bill later.
