Solar Plasma - Resource Idea for Beta

I've got a fairly decent resource idea for KSP Beta.

While orbiting fairly close to Kerbol (not too close to be roasted), you could collect trace amounts of solar plasma, which could be used for science and energy. The closer you were to Kerbol, the more plasma you could collect.

This resource could be implemented alongside some form of heat resistance for certain parts. The closer to Kerbol you wanted to get, the more heat resistance you would need.

Parts that could be added:

Air-breathing rocket

Seaplane pontoons (I've wanted these for ages)

Airship balloons (I REALLY want these)

Symmetrical docking nodes (I'm OCD about keeping my docking rotation even)

VASIMR

Nuclear reactor

Miniature wind turbine

Larger 0.5m fuel tanks

Mk2 to 2m adapter

Rover treads
