KSC Marker

Recommended Posts

I think it's time for this to happen. Add a target-able marker indicating the Kerbal Space Centers location. Everyone does it with flags anyway so it's not like it removes any challenge from the game, all I am asking is to have one with a unique icon that can't be confused with other flags/craft and to be so you don't have to spend 10 minutes putting one up every new game. THis is JUST for the KSC, not the island runway, or KSC "2" or any easter egg.

If Squad is going to implement any kind of cloud cover over Kerbin, then this is needed. Any player who has used the mod Environmental Visual Enhancement knows that this is the case.

I actually crashed into the VAB because of this. I wasn't flying the most maneuverable of planes and the clouds blocked my view and then... Boom!

Because of this i had to de-crew my space station (Couldn't afford to re-supply TAC life support)

Some sort of basic ILS would be appropriate for the main runway. I implement that by planting a flag at each end of the runway. It's pretty much mandatory when flying heavy aircraft, as you need to be aligned to the runway before you can properly see it. With small and nimble aircraft, you can get away with last minute significant correction of your approach, but not so with heavies.

N.B. I'm not suggesting a full ILS autopilot, just the basic tools to get yourself reliably aligned to the runway when it's still barely a pixel on the limits of the draw distance. Bonus points for giving us something close to a proper ILS showing glide slope as well. The currently non-functional PAPI lights wouldn't be any good for glide slope if they actually worked, as you can't properly see them until far too close to the runway; having flown real PAPI approaches, the real thing is visible from much further away (and is also placed well to the side of the runway, and a safe distance past the threshold to provide margin if you're on the lower limits of the slope).

That is outside the scope of this request. I'm not asking for a runway marker. I'm asking for a KSC marker. Making the big flag in front of the Astronaut complex appear as an icon on the map and be targetable would be sufficient to fulfill this request.

A runway marker would have other implications that I don't want to cloud this request with. For example, is it a 90 degree landing or a 270 degree landing, what about the island runway? For simplicity, this is just an indicator of the general location of the KSC so you can find it amongst the entire planet (especially when using EVE). It's not a landing guidance request, but more of a "what direction do I need to go to get home" guidance request.

There are tools (read: MOD) available for ILS support:

Edit: On topic, I fully support this sentiment Alshain, KSC should have a marker on the map view...one the user doesn't need to set up on their own.
