Network issues

Can someone help me out here? I was trying to watch a video on Youtube on 1080p. I was suffering extreme buffering even on 480p. Here are the Ping and tracert results:

My questions:

1. I am using broadband internet from Comcast. Why is my tracert saying it is taking almost five seconds to receive a SINGLE packet?

2. Why are my tracert and ping different?

3. What the f--- is whitemarsh.md.bad.comcast.net?

I've got no clue about all the technical stuff you posted, rpayne88. But I do know that long cable runs and weak signals have a lot to do with internet speed. If you have a long cable run just to get to your modem, then an active return amp may be just the thing.

Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If wireless, have you verified that a direct connection also has problems, ruling out issues with the router?

I was experiencing issues like you describe and was complaining about my cable company to everyone that would listen. Turns out, the problem was on my end with too long of a cable run. Anyway, good luck!
