High Frontier: The next step in space

I have been helping to develop a space themed game called High Frontier, a space settlement simulation game where you design, build and manage gigantic space colonies. I believe many players of KSP would find this game fun.

Here's a screenshot:

Latest update is version 0.18 which added different materials, for version 0.19 we will be opening up the whole solar system for the development of colonies.

We welcome any feedback about the game so please, tell us what you think!

I won't play or buy it now, but this game has A LOT of potencial.

Also, what do you develop in that game?

not sure what you mean, in the game, you build space colonies. We made the game in unity.

Are those buildings just placeholders or is that the type of small town aesthetics you are going with for the final game?

yes they are just placeholders, in fact that's basically the whole point of the kickstarter. (but still, try to tell me that doesn't look awesome)

Oh yes, definitely. :D I'm sold on the concept, I was just worried becausebecause the buildings look more 1950's than futuristic.

I meant what do you do (as a real person) develop in the game? (Texture, Audio, etc...)

I think for this game, i will see the progress every week, if the game's good enough at some point, i will buy it.

I don't like to buy games that are too early in their development.

At last, we get to see what became of those "rocket cities" seen in certain oldschool Maxis games.

So, gameplay mechanics... strictly a strategic space game with a Sim City-esque spin? Or will selecting planets for specific resources, temperature, safety, etc, and planning the construction process (all the way down to building and launching the parts) be a factor in a more developed version? Will stations compete with each other economically?

I will keep up with progress and buy it once it is more, eh, complete (sorry if that sounds rude, I couldn't think of any other way to put it.)

Well remember 2 things here. 1 if you wait to buy it later, it will be more expensive, but if you buy it now, you will always have access to future versions. And 2, you can get it even cheaper on the kickstarter, (which is what we really want you to do) and if we can complete our kickstarter we can start to seriously work on development.

Oh, that's what you meant. I do bits of code here and there, but my dad is much better than me so I mainly just help him with ideas.

It's a sandbox game, you will not have to build and launch every one of your parts, that's done for you, but there will be an economy and you will have to pay for everything, but then you get money back from taxes and tourism, so a lot like Sim City, but with the ability to have lots of cities. And yes you will have to choose where to build it(example LEO has radiation shielding from the Van Allen belts, but in LLO it is cheap to acquire lunar materials, like shielding ).

  • 10 months later...

The white backgrounds are for the walls and ceilings, Is everything white for you? That might mean that you have no livable area, grass should appear in places with slopes of less than 45° and gravity between 0.6g and 1.1g, can you post a screenshot?
