Reverse skydiving

The goal is to jump out of the plane and get the highest altitude with just a Kerbal! The Kerbal has to survive, flying back to the plane.

1) Build a plane. (prefferably out of stock parts) Dump RCS/oxidizer fuel, no rockets allowed either

2) Take off and go straight up, or whatever trajectory which gets your Kerbal the highest altitude.

3) When the engine(s) suffocate, EVA the Kerbal out of safety

4) Get your Kerbal in the highest possible trajectory, note the apoapsis altitude!

5) Return to the plane before it hits the atmosphere, and WIN

Why you should try it? It is nerve wrecking, and quite easy. The plane will slow down in the upper atmosphere, so the Kerbal will fly away from the plane. I got to an altitude of 91km, took the screenshots at the wrong moment, other attempts were less.....fortunate

I've actually done this several times just goofing around. I'll have to give this a shot again.

I've actually had to do this well into the atmosphere when messing around with K-drive planes. Nerve-wracking indeed.

Ok, this is tougher than I thought, at first!

Even with adequate air intakes, my turbojet engine simply refuses to generate any real thrust above either 50km, or 2300m/s

Still, this is my entry for now. 421465m
