Joystick Axis not recognized by KSP

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently bought a Thrustmaster HOTAS X Joystick after reading several recommendations on the forum. After plugging it in, testing it in the Windows 8 Game Controller configuration, I opened up KSP, and low and behold, the Axis controls are not recognized.

Things to note:

-I'm running the game in Windows 8

-I have version 0.25 on Steam.

-Joystick, Throttle, and All Buttons work in other programs (FS9) and are recognized by the Windows 8 Control Panel

-Joystick BUTTONS ARE recognized in KSP

--Joystick AXIS controls are NOT recognized in KSP

I have tried resetting KSP and my computer, deleting the config file, and unplugging and plugging in the joystick.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

-- Side note: I downloaded Fly-By-Wire mod after troubleshooting the problems. The mod does not recognize the joystick either.

Correct, there are no Axis bindings to choose from or select. For example, when I go into the Input settings in KSP, under flight I can assign the landing gear, brakes, etc to JoystickButton0 and JoystickButton1, but the right side of the screen under Axis is completely empty.

EDIT: I also cannot assign an Axis setting to any of those options either. Only buttons.

I'm having a different sort of issue with the HOTAS X from Thrustmaster. Things mapped fine, and work fine, until I turn off KSP and turn it back on. At which time buttons work fine, but none of the joystick axises work until I go through and reassign them (But, according to the KSP settings, they are still there?)

Any ideas?

The name of the joystick seems to ring a bell. I'll bet someone's had some kind of problem with it before; Unity's notoriously absolutely rubbish when it comes to joysticks. The only thing I can think of is to look into third-party virtual joystick mapping applications. You might be able to map your physical joystick to a virtual one that KSP will recognise correctly.
