Hide Exterior on IVA

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to be lazy... I want to use a stock IVA for my command pod, even though they won't match exactly. The problem I'm having is that in the exterior model, bits of the window frame turn inward enough that they're visible as polygons floating in mid air in front of the IVA, at least from certain positions.

I know that when and if I get around to doing my own IVA this won't matter... as I'll model the insides of the frames... and it won't matter which side you're seeing. But I'm not sure when that's going to happen... so...

Is there a tag or trick of some other kind that will let me hide some or all of my exterior pod model when I go to IVA?

The windows are a sort of intricate bit of geometry, so trying to edit them to make sure that you're only seeing the backsides of every polygon from every seat in the model would be really unpleasant.

there's nothing to turn off the outside far as I know. I could be wrong.

since you are modeling the outside, there's not much you can do other than editing the exterior to match the interior. best thing to do is import the interior in Blender and edit your exterior to match.

Just an update, because I like to leave threads 'complete.'

That's excellent advice about importing the IVA and building to match it, if you want to stick with the stock IVA. In the end, I decided to stop being lazy and learn how to make an IVA myself, and thanks to your excellent video tutorials, I got there! Thank you for the advice, as always.
