This is a thread that I want people to talk about NASA's contribution as much as any other veteran's contribution...

I want to talk about the lives lost... and their dedication... legacy and what they have done to push the world forward... as well as any other veteran who fights for our freedom.

Another thing- In your opinions... Should NASA be honored as well your do you disagree with this? Should Astronauts be memorialized on Veteran's Day as well? I'd like to know :)

Gus Grissom. Died in Apollo 1 fire. He helped with the design of the Gemini spacecraft a ton. Flew on the second manned Mercury mission. He's pretty cool.

Very. He's in the top of my favorite Astronauts... but not my highest.

I find him to be THE irony that is NASA. He almost died from a capsule failure during Mercury... then it was THE VERY FIX to the Mercury disaster that turned around and KILLED HIM. If they had KEPT the explosive bolts on the capsule doors... he'd be alive and well... but Liberty Belle 7 changed that.

I say only for the military astronauts (who were all veterans anyway), mainly because Veterans day is for soldiers not for scientists/civilians, they could make another day or add to an existing day (Yuri's night?) for the civilain deaths.

Exactly... not every member of the last mission of the Space Shuttle Challenger were military- some were not... one was a teacher in fact. So we should memorialize them too. They sacrificed their lives for us so that we learned a valuable asset in space travel.
