Ballistic Delivery challenge

The task is quite simple - deliver an MK1 pod with a parachute to the UFO crash site near the north pole (N 81.9551 W 128.518).

Rules:

- 3 solid/liquid fuel engines maximum (staged or clustered)

- 2 stages maximum + MK1 pod stage (which should only have 1 parachute for descent after the separation)

- Stock only parts, no jets, no lifting surfaces - your craft should be a ballistic missile. Using engines for maneuvering and braking is ok, but remember - the least the starting mass the better the scores.

- No autopilots (Using MJ or KER for information is OK).

- No getting into orbit - your flight should be sub-orbital

- If you use FAR or NEAR or similar mods that mess with aerodynamics - provide the appropriate information.

- Use only the normal game mechanics (no utilization of glitches / bugs)

MJ or similar tool for measuring distances is sort of necessary. Alternatively, you can plant a flag at the target beforehand and count the distance to it. Anyway, you should provide a screenshot with your ship at launch pad and a screenshot at the landing site where the distance to the target or your coordinates are shown.

Ranking:

If you landed farther than 10 km from the target - U FAIL.

Providing a video of the whole flight - initially add 10 points.

After landing you'll have 100 points.

If you landed within 1 km circle around the target add 100 points.

If you landed farther away then for each whole kilometer from your landed pod to the target site subtract 10 points.

Divide your points by the mass of your starting ship in tonnes.

Whoever gets the max points wins.

For example,

* you started off with a 15.6 t missile and landed 3.6 km from the target. (3 whole km * 10 pts: subtract 30 pts)

Your score will be: (100 - 30) / 15.6 = 4.487

* you started off with a 25.8 t missile and landed 300 m from the target. (Within 1 km: add 100 pts)

Your score will be: (100 + 100) / 25.8 = 7.75

Launch Weight: 11.54t

Landed: 748m away

If I'm doing the Math correctly:

(100 + 100 + 10) / 11.54 = 18.198 pts.

Just out of curiosity - was it at first attempt?

Just out of curiosity - was it at first attempt?

Ohh.... hahahahaha... oh god no. That was attempt 17... The first attempt was technically a success... but woulda been about 1.8 pts... as I was 9.5km away. After that it was dialing in the exact target point.
