Noob Kerbalnaught's needing orbital HELP....

Recommended Posts

Hello every one,

Wow how is it that I have only just discovered this game!?

Ok that said I have a BIG PROBLEM, I am working my way through the career mode and after a failed first attempt my second go has been a huge success. My first contracts have earned me a lot of science so far but to really move onto the next level of orbital station I need to claim bigger pay checks.

So this was my mission:

Test 24-77 rocket booster thing

Kerbin (check)

altitude 902000 - 107000 (check)

Orbit ??? I am, I can see I am but it isn't registering....

I thought this may be an elliptical orbit problem? Has anyone else had this problem?

I think the AP and PE points need to be within that 90.2km to 107 km range

It is sufficient for your craft to register a stable orbit. This means a Periapsis above 70km (and an Apoapsis within Kerbin's SOI). Any eliptical orbit will do. Then perform the test - staging or right-click, depending on contract - while at the required altitude.

It is _not_ necessary to have the whole orbit within the bounds.

PS: in case this was not clear: as long as your PE is below 70km your ship will not be in an orbit!

PPS: it helps if you have the contract displayed in the HUD, that way you can see directly which conditions are met by the green check markers...
