As a workaround, can you effectively control the mothership via RCS? If so, you can probably get your other ship on approach and just do fine adjustment from there ... and even if not, you can at least hold the ship steady with SAS.

Its a bit of a heavy beast.

The RCS is really only useful for SAS assistance to stop turning because one SAS unit on the ship is still a bit weak. You can get it moving but then you have to stop it on a node. That's where the RCS helps.

If I left the RCS turned on, it would quickly run out of propellant as the ship is constantly trying to move.

If I leave only SAS on the ship slowly wriggles on the spot and the nose slowly turns small circles of about 2M in diameter.

I'd like to do some good missions with big ships, Science Unit, Lander, rover and small flyer combined.

I've done it several times in the past. But now the movement ov vessels just makes it seem too unnatural.

Having to prepare vessels for this kind of bug really detracts from my enjoyment.

If I mess up on a rover and only find out when it gets to it's destination, I know what the problem is. I can fix it. New mission. Play on.

If everything I have done seems to be fine and the game keeps throwing me a googly. I can't fight that.

I've racked up around 3000 hours of play on KSP. I wanted to do another couple of Missions to Jool but the game won't play fair.

Tools like Docking Assistant. Nice little mod. A bit of an essential. I can dock without it. But it feels unnatural having to get the right camera angle to eyeball the line of the ship etc. it feels more real docking with it. but the mod wasn't designed to work on a rotating target.

I get the feeling that this bug is going to be around for a while. like the ladder bug, the ejecting EVA bug, EVA kerbals not being able to pitch and a bunch of others.

The trouble is, the whole system is moving. Space too. Vehicles are starting to feel less like space ships and more like ocean liners. With waves and currents and bobbing about. Ruins the feeling of being in space. For me at any rate.

I know, I'm moaning in the wrong place or about the wrong thing. but Guys, 3000 hours. I'm a sitting tennant. Been there-Done that. Want to do it all again and again.

okay how daring are you with editing your quicksave file? Create the craft as it is now back in the VAB (you can tweak the fuel if you don't want to cheat or just estimate it) and launch it - hit f5 to quicksave - make a backup (always make a backup) and then open up the quicksave.sfs in your game folder. From there locate the name of the ship you just launched - it should be the last craft on the list so you can scroll down to the bottom and do a find going up the page instead of down (theres a toggle in notepad). Find VESSEL. You want to copy from the first PART { to the } above DISCOVERY. - there will be a LOT of lines between the two - even for a simple craft like this one so its always best to use notepad++ or edit++ for this stuff and make a note of the line numbers these things are on. Find the craft above Duna (search by VESSEL or if you know the name search for that. Delete the bits from the first PART { to the } above DISCOVERY and replace it with the details you copied. Save the file go back in to KSP and hold F9 to reload. The new craft should be in its place above Duna where you left it - if no explosions happen then see if it starts spinning - if explosions the replace the quicksave with a copy of the backup and try again.
