Use of telemetry mods

Hello, friends.

Telemetry is used in realworld spacecraft control, yes, I know this. So, can someone explain me, what mods, like Telemachus, actually do in KSP? All that I could understand - they generate some kind of telenetry... and nothing else?

Can I actually send some data, like code packges with control programms for kOS, or something like that?
