Now there is a report that they are playing that music to the crew and it also tests the communication systems. (Sorry for double post, but I wanted this to be separate.)

EDIT - Aningaaq beat me! Looks like it isn't a double post after all...

Very nice launch. I gotta say that ride looks "smooth". I love to look for MECO. Question... I saw in the simulated view the third stages spins up after separation. Why is this? Are there retrorockets of sorts to give it a spin for a more destructive reentry?

dharak1 The first is the most magical, savor it! They don't get any less cool.

I remember my first one. If I'm not mistaken, it was a Delta IV Heavy carrying some classified DoD satellite. Funny thing is that although the wouldn't say what was the payload, amateur observers were able to identify its final position processing the data given by ULA. It ended up being a ComSat for the US Government.

I'd guess they use it for stabilization. I didn't watch the video (was out with my soon-to-be girlfriend ᕦ( á° Üʖ á°)ᕤ), but I know it's been done before. Mainly before staging solid upper stages.

Here's a relevant xkcd KSP video on the topic:
