Lenbart Kerban rescue

So I have taken on the contract to rescue Lenbart for orbit around Kerbin. I finally managed to rendezvous with him. I tried with an empty pod and also with two pods with Jeb. When I get to him there doesn't seem to be any way to interact with him to get him into the pod. Nor can you control him. Anybody know how to do this? Thank you in advance.

Click [ or ] to switch to nearby vessels, which happens to include stranded Kerbals.

This should be stickied or something. This question comes up so very very often.

After you change to him with [ or ], press 'r' to activate its jetpack. Then with w, a, s, d, shift, and control you can move your kerbal towards the pod's hatch and get him inside (with 'f').

This really needs to get fixed. I spent 20 minutes or so clicking and right clicking to switch to the floating kerbal..

Nope, that won't work. As the others have mentioned, you can only switch to a stranded Kerbal by pressing either the "[" or the "]" key. Those keys cycle your control and focus to any ships (and EVA Kerbals) within the 2.2 km physics range.
