M.E.A.P. Research Project [Assuming Researchers] (Most Efficient Ascent Path)

Hello everyone!

As you can guess from the title, I'd like to talk about the Most Efficient Ascent Path (MEAP).

In the forum I've not found active thread on this topic and none of them truly scientific.

What i wanna do, is to determinate the MEAP and try to understand from what kind of parameter it depends, like TWR, rocket mass, etc..

I've already take some stats, that you can download from link below, and made a quick graph finding some interesting things. I won't talk a lot about that, just check it we'll discuss later.

In this row of test i've registered some data, and i've measured the efficiency of the Path according with the Remaining fuel percentage, in function of:

• Turn Altitude Start

• Turn Altitude End

• Turn Shape

obviously using the mechJeb. I'm even using FAR.

As a lot of us, I've not so much time to do all this test so who is interested can join to the MEAP Research Project dividing all the different combination to find accurate results.

I'll also post all the mod that could influence the data results so we'll decide what mod include for the research, so we'll use a common package mod.

MOD list:

• Deadly Reentry

• Ferram Aerospace Research

• Mech Jeb 2

At the moment the graph just help to understand quickly the data, but most important the graph is made only changing the Turn Altitude Start and the Turn Shape and keeping constant the Turn Altitude End at 80 km (final orbit altitude 200 km).

The rocket that i've used is inside the folder and it require "Aerojet Kerbodyne" and "KV rocketry" but we can change it easily (losing all the current data )

Finally the 2rd page are the data used for the graph; the 3rd for a different rocket that I've not finished.
